N.A.S.A.- The North American Skimbat Association

Postby Iceglider on Wed Oct 25, 2006 11:23 pm

This is to announce an idea that Will T. came up with last season: The North American Skimbat Association. This will be an informal association modeled after WISSA, its purpose being to bring together Skimbat sailors, kiters, and windsurfers for fun get-togethers, possibly some racing, maybe even an "expedition" or two. All are welcome, but our "home base" to start will be in the northeastern U.S.. Don't be misled by the name, we're also open to kite and windsurf sailors. We're primarily ice and snow sailors, but land and water sailors are welcome also. Right now we have a small but growing group in New England, and we'll be "burning" up the ice on Lake Sunapee, NH, as soon as it's safe. Anyone interested is invited to contact me, (Rick), e-mail address madsurf1@msn.com. Get ready for some action! If this cold weather continues we could be in for a great winter!

We've been up and running for over a year now, and the group has been quite active. There's a strong contingent of riders from the Mid-Coast area of Maine, and they've been great about posting messages and photos. We're hoping to add a few more members from the recent WISSA event, and we won't limit ourselves to North America despite the group name (should I change it to North Atlantic Skimbat Association?)
Anyway, we've got loads of ice and snow pictures from Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, and there's more sailing yet to come.
Ice is nice.

There is a quite active "kitewing association" in Finland and sweden too. I do not know that much about organised activities in other countries. Anyone know - please tell us!

How long will it take for NASA's Orion spaceship to get from Earth to the Moon? A few months ago, NASA unveiled its Orion spaceship, which it will use to get people on the Moon. But how long will it take for NASA's Orion spaceship to get from Earth to the Moon?
